Kallas announces agreement with Israel for new humanitarian aid to Gaza

EU and Israel, dialogues lead to new agreements to be implemented in the coming days

Brussels – The EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, announced that, after dialogues with Israel, significant steps have been taken to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.

A note from the External Action Service (EEAS) explains that the agreed measures will be implemented in the coming days, including: increasing trucks with humanitarian aid and food, reopening Jordanian and Egyptian aid routes, restarting fuel supplies for humanitarian facilities up to an operational level, protecting aid workers, repairing and facilitating work on vital infrastructure, such as restarting electricity supply to the water desalination plant, and more.

The communiqué reads: “Such measures have been or will be implemented in the coming days, with the common understanding that large-scale aid must be delivered directly to the population and that measures will continue to be taken to ensure that there is no diversion of aid to Hamas.”

The EU continues to apply all possible means to reach a resolution to the dramatic dynamics in the Middle East, and renews its calls for a ceasefire and the release of hostages.
