From Spotify to Breton. Music playlists to accompany voters to polls at the 2024 European elections

The music streaming app's "Do Your Part, Europe!" includes the winning song of the 2024 Sanremo Festival, "La Noia" by Angelina Mango. "EU Elections" by the European Commissioner for the Internal Market consists of 42 songs that form a long sentence to push participation at the polls between June 6 and 9

Brussels – The European elections to the beat of music from the 27 member countries of the European Union: With two playlists released on the music streaming platform Spotify during the final days of the election campaign before the voting started today (June 6) in the Netherlands—and which will last until Sunday, June 9—music seeks to be a carrier of the participation of the 373 million EU voters at the ballot box to choose the composition of the new European Parliament.

Playlist Spotify European Elections 2024It was the Spotify app that first published the playlist Play Your Part, Europe!, sharing it with all over 18 users to remind them of the now-approaching European election date, a playlist composed of 54 songs from all EU member countries—two from each—for more than three hours of music. The winning song of the 2024 Sanremo Festival and seventh runner-up at the Eurovision Song Contest, La noia by Angelina Mango, as well as another song that competed at the Sanremo Festival, Un Ragazzo una Ragazza by The Kolors, were chosen for Italy.

Toda,y it was the turn of the European Commissioner for the Internal Market, Thierry Breton, who also posted on Spotify a playlist titled EU Elections, choosing a total of 42 songs allowing him to compose a long sentence to urge voters to go to the polls for the European elections that have just begun. A habit, that of the Internal Market Commissioner, that is now well broken in during this five-year term at the Berlaymont. Breton’s choice of music begins with “European Elections“, “Have Started“, “What We All Want“, and on X gave three pieces of advice: “Go vote, check out this playlist, vote.”
