Brussels – Eurozone inflation stood at 2.5 percent in January, up from December (+0.1 percentage points, pp). Eurostat confirms the preliminary data released earlier this month, certifying the rise in the cost of living. Driving this increase is primarily higher energy prices (1.9 percent, up from 0.1 percent in December), offsetting slower growth in ‘services’ (3.9 percent, compared with 4 percent in December) and ‘food, alcohol, and tobacco’ (2.3 percent, compared with 2.6 percent in December).
