The company has been designing and manufacturing high-precision molds for plastics and die casting for over 30 years. Based in Chiari (Province of Brescia), the company is a reference point for strategic sectors such as automotive, industrial design, and the marine industry. Marco Olivari, General Manager of Claren Tools, shares the company’s vision, present challenges, and prospects.
Eunews: Tell us about Claren Tools: when was it born, and what area does it specialize in?
Marco Olivari: Claren Tools was founded in Chiari in 1987. It specializes in the design and production of injection and die-casting molds, as well as precision machining. In an industry where accuracy is essential to guarantee the quality of the final product. The company distinguishes itself through its three-pillar approach: continuous staff training, constant investment in cutting-edge technologies, and diversification of target sectors for its products. Indeed, Claren Tools operates in areas ranging from automotive to design and marine to aerospace, growing solidly and sustainably.
E: How important is innovation to you? What projects are you working on, and what contribution will they make to the defense industry?
M.O.: Through cutting-edge technologies and a constant drive for innovation, Claren Tools has succeeded in developing and producing metal components machined with ultra-high-precision CNC equipment for prestigious projects in the competitive marine industry. The metal foils and wings we produce enable boats to reach speeds of up to 40 knots while ensuring the absence of vibrations and high strength. They are also suitable for use in the defense. Similarly, our ability to machine with extreme precision even large parts composed of special metals enables us to supply structural components for the aerospace and aeronautical sectors, single parts and small batches, on specific request.
E: What role can the European industry play in realizing the new common defense plan?
M.O.: European industry is called to play a strategic and decisive role in building a common Defense capable of ensuring autonomy, resilience, and shared operational capabilities. In this context, Claren Tools makes its advanced skills and technological know-how available to the sector, actively promoting synergies within the Italian and European industrial systems. Through structured cooperation between companies, it is possible to enhance the excellence of our territory, contributing in a concrete way to the strengthening of European Defense.
E: What in particular do you think you should invest in?
M.O.: We prioritize investing in strategic areas that ensure competitiveness, security, and the ability to operate in highly regulated environments. At the corporate level, Claren Tools is allocating new resources to implement advanced cybersecurity systems and achieve EN9100 certification, a fundamental prerequisite for operating in highly specialized sectors such as aerospace, which is officially recognized as the fifth operational domain in the defense context. In particular, we consider developing and deploying satellite technologies for global monitoring and data collection as vital, as these tools are essential today to ensure effective defense and informed crisis management.
E: Do you think there are obstacles currently limiting the integration path on Defense? If so, how can they be overcome?
M.O.: Fragmented regulations, technological misalignments, and communication that is not always effective between institutions and companies often slow integration in the defense sector. We believe it is essential to promote a more direct and structured dialogue between institutions and companies because only through closer collaboration will it be possible to stimulate innovation, optimize resource allocation, and achieve a cutting-edge level of technology, even in the Defense sector.
