Brussels – In a letter addressed to European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen, European car manufacturers (ACEA) and suppliers (CLEPA) call for a “recalibration” of EU policies for “green” transport.
“Since the adoption of the current framework for reducing CO2 emissions in road transport, industrial, economic and geopolitical realities have changed dramatically. In order to realise the EU’s climate ambitions while safeguarding Europe’s competitiveness, social cohesion, and supply chain resilience, the strategy for the automotive sector must evolve accordingly,” say the automotive manufacturers.
The strategic dialogue on the future of the automotive industry, scheduled for Friday 12 September, “represents a timely opportunity to recalibrate EU policy for the automotive value chain,” the letter states, “in line with today’s changing geopolitical and economic market realities.”
