    Peter Stano appointed Head of the EU Commission Representation in Bratislava

    A former spokesman in the second Barroso Commission and the first von der Leyen Commission, he will have to promote the EU executive at the regional level

    Brussels – From the press room to higher diplomatic and representative functions: Peter Stano has been appointed as the new Head of the European Commission Representation in Bratislava, Slovakia. In this function, he will act as the official representative of the European Commission in Slovakia, under the political authority of President Ursula von der Leyen. Stano’s tasks will be to promote the Commission’s priorities, enhancing its visibility at the national, regional, and local levels.

    A Slovak, formerly a spokesperson for Slovakia’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Peter Stano served as spokesperson for the EU’s High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, in the first von der Leyen Commission (2019-2024). Previously, he was also spokesperson for the Commissioner for Enlargement, Stefan Fule, in the second Barroso Commission (2010-2014).
