ENEA’s commitment to Mediterranean energy cooperation continues with the appointment of Gianluca Calabretta, Acting Director General of ENEA, as President of MEDENER, the Mediterranean Association of National Agencies for Energy Management.

The election took place on 16 July during the MEDENER General Assembly, held at ENEA’s Brussels Office, and reflects the Agency’s central role in advancing the energy transition across the Mediterranean region.

MEDENER brings together national Energy Agencies from across the Region and promotes cooperation through the exchange of expertise and best practices, the development of joint projects and dialogue between the two shores of the Mediterranean.

“We aim to strengthen MEDENER as a platform for cooperation and dialogue between the two shores of the Mediterranean by sharing expertise and best practices, developing new projects and stepping up engagement with international institutions to accelerate the region’s energy transition,” said the newly appointed President, Gianluca Calabretta.

MEDENER members, representing national energy agencies across the Mediterranean, expressed their full support for the new President and reaffirmed their shared commitment to the Association’s future, while highlighting MEDENER’s key role in the region.

This appointment further strengthens ENEA’s leadership in Mediterranean energy cooperation and its commitment to energy efficiency, renewable energy, and a sustainable transition across the region.
