Brussels – A tragic death delayed by a couple of hours this morning the arrival of European Parliament officials, who once a month travel between Brussels and Strasbourg (and vice versa), in what many view as a pointless waste of money serving only to preserve France’s pride in hosting an EU institutional seat within its borders.
According to reports from several travellers and the France3 TV website, an employee of the French national rail company, the SNCF, took his own life early this morning, at around 7 am, by throwing himself in front of a TER train between Saint-Brès and Valergues, in the Hérault department. The man was thirty years old.
Rail services were therefore suspended between Montpellier and Nîmes, on the conventional line, for around two hours.
