Air transport: Tzitzikostas says the EU is ready to amend rules in case of fuel shortages

The Transport Commissioner: “At present, there is no immediate threat to the security of supply; we are monitoring the situation. Temporary changes to the legislation possible, where justified.”

Brussels – Regarding the availability of jet fuel, “at present, there is no immediate threat to the security of supply, although stocks of
    some fuels are tight.”
In any case, “If the situation worsens and the existing flexibilities no longer suffice,
the Commission will propose temporary changes to the legislation, where justified.” This was confirmed by the Commissioner for Transport, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, in response to a parliamentary question on the shortage of jet fuel.

The situation therefore needs to be closely monitored. “Given the context, the Oil Coordination Group meets more often to review EU oil supply
security and coordinate action as needed,” Tzitzikostas added.
