Brussels – The government’s security bill violates the basic rules and principles of the European Union. PD’s MEPs Nicola Zingaretti and Alessandro Zan are convinced of this and are announcing a question to the European Commission about the Italian government measure. The question asks for an assessment of whether the provisions of the bill “violate the principles of freedom of expression, assembly, and association” and whether, as it seems, they “undermine the principle of human dignity” established by Article 2 of the Treaty of the European Union, and Articles 11, 12 of Carta dei Diritti Fondamentali dell’Ue and the jurisprudence of the European Court of Justice. For the initiative promoters, the security bill “is incompatible” with the dictates of the Union.
