Road transport, EU-Moldova agreement extended until Dec. 31, 2025

Brussels – The special agreement on road transport between the EU and Moldova has been extended until December 31, 2025. The two sides have agreed to extend the validity of the understanding sealed for the first time on June 29, 2022, as a consequence of the Russian war in Ukraine. The agreement aims to help Moldova access world markets by facilitating transit through EU countries and further developing its connections to the single market.

Since it was signed, the EU Commission points out, the agreement “has substantially increased road exports from Moldova to the EU, benefiting both economies.” The agreement has also strengthened EU-Ukraine solidarity lanes, facilitating road transport between the EU and Moldova, which is an important transit country for Ukrainian exports and imports.
