On stage October 19th, Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti, Perturbazione e Cosmo. A concert, 3 artists and secret artists for the after show: it is the Italian Indie Waves recipe
It’s an Italian evening in the heart of Europe and not the “usual” Italy for which we are famous abroad. Far from “pizza and mandolin” but also from the usual Laura Pausini or Eros Ramazzotti known beyond the border, in Brussels independent Italian music takes off. Much more than a concert: what’s on schedule for October 19th at Vk* Concert will be a real mini festival. There will be 3 big names of Italian indie music: Tre Allegri ragazzi morti, Perturbazione and Cosmo. All around food stands where you can get Italian tortilla sandwiches, typical products, wine and spritzers. And then partners and Italian cultural associations are ready to introduce themselves and provide information to the public. After the concert comes the surprise: a secret after show, for which the concert organizers will reveal the location and DJ only on the night of the event.
It is a full program, in short, what BEIT decided to give itself for its first anniversary. Although it has been active for longer, the cultural association that organizes concerts and events with Italian artists in Brussels and in all of Belgium, it was officially inaugurated about a year ago. They decided to celebrate like this, with what they hope will become an annual event. “We are trying to make way for a different Italian identity – explains Francesca Simoni di Beit – moving away from the usual stereotypical artists everyone knows overseas.” This is why we chose to “focus on the underground scene that usually remains confined to Italy.” An idea that seems to please – even the artists themselves. “We have had super enthusiastic reactions when we made the proposal,” the organizers assure us.
And so the Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti will arrive in Brussels with their unavoidable masks, a group symbolic of the Italian punk scene formed since 1994. With them is another group that doesn’t need an introduction: the Perturbazione, one of the most famous Italian rock bands today with their mix of instrumental rock and classic. Finally, there is a very promising “new generation.” It’s Cosmo, young singer-songwriter from Turin, arriving in the top 5 finalists for best debut album this year for the Tenco prize. Italian traditional music reinterpreted in psychedelic-pop rock: this is his original recipe that already won the public.
