Gli eurodeputati ascolteranno i capi di Europol e dell’Antiterrorismo Ue (ENG)

Brussels – Civil liberties MEPs will discuss the Paris terrorist attacks and subsequent police operations, ahead of Friday’s Justice and Home Affairs Council, at a special meeting on Thursday morning. Europol Director Rob Wainwright, the EU Counter-Terrorism Coordinator, Gilles De Kerchove (tbc), and representatives of the Council Presidency and the Commission will take part.

 The debate, addressing current and envisaged anti-terror measures, will take place from 9.50 to 10.50. MEPs are likely to discuss the Passenger Name Record data (EU PNR) proposal, currently being negotiated by European legislators in “trialogues” (three-way talks between Parliament, Council and Commission), stepping up information-sharing among member states and between them and Europol, strengthening controls at the EU’s external borders, tackling terrorist financing, and fighting firearms trafficking.

 Parliament will also debate and vote on a civil liberties committee report on the prevention of radicalisation and recruitment of European citizens by terrorist organisations at its 23-26 November session in Strasbourg.
