In an exclusive interview with ViEuws, executive director of the association of brazilian beef exporters, Fernando Sampaio talks to Agra Facts journalist Rose O’Donovan about his country’s highly-efficient and competitive agricultural sector. He provides details of the brazilian roundtable on sustainable livestock that was established in July 2015, where resource efficiency & sustainable intensification are at the top of the agenda. Speaking a couple weeks before leaked details emerged about the Eu market access offer to the Mercosur countries – Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay – Sampaio said there was a place for beef imports into the Eu to satisfy demand and also keep prices down. A bilateral deal would be a “win-win” situation for both sides, he concluded, saying he sees great opportunities for European farm products on the Latin American market.
